Coming Soon

We are in the lab asking some of your favorite dancers questions that you (and I) want to know about. Look for interviews of Sekou, Ejoe, Caaleaf, Marjory, and even a few people you didn’t think we could get. Stay tuned.

    Hello Caleaf

I hope you’re well and have a few minutes to read my Mail. My name is Sabrina Tanner. I’m a Trainee in a Dance Crew by Peggy Kübler in Thun (Switzerland). Every Trainee in the dancecrew Funkylicious has the task to write a paperwork about different Dancestyles during the summer. My work is about house. I looked for some informations by the internet but it wasn’t very helpful. I hope you have a little time to answer my questions.

When/where was House played for the first time?

The God father of house is Frankie Knuckles. Isn’t it?

Where and when was House Music and House Dancestyle developed?

Where and who originated House music and House dancestyle?

Arose house from another music direction?

Had the discovery of House to do something with economic or political circumstances?

How did the economy look out when house was invented?

What did the people think when they listen to house for the first time?

Who made the first offiziel House Step?

When did house become known in other lands?

Does House belongs to the streetdance?

What was former greate? Techno or house.

Is there a difference between Techno and House?

House is strongly influenced by elements of soul- and funk-infused. Isn’t it?

What distinguishes House from other dancestyles?

Who gives the steps her name?

To what must you pay attention especially if you dance house?

A lot of people dance Techtonik if they hear house music. They think it’s the right dancestyle to house. Do you know why it could be so?

    Some personal questions:

I remember that you said: House is Love. Why did you say something like that?

    Why do you dance house?

When did you your first house step? When did you listen to house for the first time?

It would also be great if you have some websites to get further information were I can answer the questions by my own.
I’m very curious about your answers. If there are questions witch you not like to answer, no problem. I have understanding for this. Finally, I want to thank you to spend your Time for my paperwork.

    Friendly greets
    Sabrina

I was kinda there. It was 1993ish. At first, the rave scene only equaled HELLA.. (dude, hella) chicks to me. (whatever.. don’t judge me :0P) But that mentality soon got devoured by the overwhelming sickness of the music. It was the first to grab me. Soon after, I really noticed the dancing that was goin on. I mean, pretty much everybody was eventually “dancing” and moving to the music. The music was SICK.. and LOUD (wicked/turbo sound systems kickin’ 100,00 watts… u know.. the “stacks” of speakers..) Anyways.. this is like trying to apply a big bang theory to “house style” dancing. Do you think there was a “set style”, formulated, and put in place by a group of the earliest active dancers in order to define and spawn “house dancing”… ?! Think again. Breaking, popping, jazz, tap, ballroom, ballet.. wtf ever styles that already exsisted.. THOSE helped the dancing style. Hell.. even like ballet n shit could be recognized by some.. BUT REALLY… IT WAS JUST THE SICK ASS LOUD ASS MUSIC THAT MADE US MOVE. THATS WHAT WE LET DICTATE WHATEVER LEVEL WE WOULD REACH WITH A BODY’s RANGE OF MOTION AND RYTHYM… ADD CREATIVITY AND SOME ATTITUDE. DONE DEAL. there were’t house dance classes, peeps… not til, like.. 10 years later. 2005ish is my GUESS.. (i guessed) Anyways.. as long as yur having fun doing it.. do it. PLUR

I would like to add: it was all about everyone finding their own groove. And when you set out to “find your groove”, trust and believe, it’s really THE MUSIC thats finding it for you.

    Find yur groove.. :0)

    PLUR
